This is another project from Mark’s time in NZ where he was challenged by a charity client to find and obtain planning permission for the construction of an assisted living facility.

Mark was responsible for site searches, assessment of options, coordinating the planners through to detailed planning consent as well as managing and aligning the architect and other design consultants to enable the client’s vision to achieve the required cost constraints. He also managed the construction tender process and with his recommendation, handed the project back to the client for construction.
A challenge for the project was maintaining development costs to the client’s budget while retaining the specifications required for assisted living. Mark’s valuation background came in useful as were his industry contacts and leaning on the knowledge of experienced engineers to reengineer the tender set of drawings to successfully meet budgets in a period of significant cost escalations and COVID lockdowns.
